About Dave and Zeta and whitechimnies

In 1992 the owners Zeta and David moved from Manchester to White Chimneys Farm, the orginal dwelling-Cherry Cottage dates back to 1635. Their intention being to give their newly born son Mitchell a better quality of life in the country. From the outset both Zeta and David were keen that the extended family should be able to share in this lovely location, so they set about changing White Chimneys from a non-working farm into an extended family home.

After the birth of Myers in 1996. The old milking parlour was re-sited and this opened up the southerly views enjoyed today. In 1998 the calving shed (cc 1635 and most probably a sheperds home when first built) was the first to be converted into a self-contained unit, this is now Cherry Cottage and comes with the benefit of a roll top bath-for two. In 2000 the old pig-pen was refurbished into the delightful studio dwelling now known as Ivy Cottage. With personal finances allowing the re-sited milking parlour was also converted into a swimming pool, this came about due to the demise of cattle farming after the outbreak of B.S.E. in the mid nineties.

With great care and vision all these conversions have given rise to a luxury 14m x 6m pool, changing rooms and a games room and in 2004 Beech Cottage was reconstructed from an 'end shed' of the pool to a two bedroom, en-suite cottage with southerly facing and pool views. After consulting the local authorities the name White Chimneys was reverted back to its origins of White Chimnies-its old English name.

The brook-running off the origins of the start of the River Trent {this starts near Barrack Lane, Biddulph Moor} now runs over the ford and this was then enlarged into a dam with a large pond in 1996, with the small lake being constructed in March 2007. These were both stocked with carp and tench in October 2007.

The herons and cormorants arrived in spring 2008 without invitation and are the only un-welcome guests.

We know you will enjoy the peace and tranquillity of White Chimnies and with the country walks, horse riding and boating facilities close at hand you have the choice of activities as well as use of the swimming pool, sauna and spa on site.

All the cottages are furnished to high standards complete with genuine refurbished Victorian wrought iron beds and adorned with bedding that assures you of a wonderful nights sleep.
